80 days No fixture

Hey Everyone,

So today has been exactly 174 days since the operation and 80 days since the fixture was removed. I just wanted show you an updated picture of my feet. My lengthened toe is now much more flexible and my surgeon told me that I can now start wearing any heels that I like!

Hope you are all well!

  1. Your feet look great, love the color too! I think you mentioned in the fb group that you also have brachymetacarpia on one of your hands? I have it on both my ring fingers and am in the process of having it fixed on my left hand. From what I've heard, seen and read I definitely think it's rarer on hands than on feet. Just wanted to say hi! Thanks for writing your blog!

    1. Hi Dee!

Thank you so much! Yes I do! oh my, how is that going? what is the procedure for hands? I often wonder if I want to get it done :)

Thank you for commenting! It is really amazing how many people out there actually have this!
Hope you are well and would love to be updated on your progress!

  2. Sorry I though I had responded to this. The procedure is pretty similar to the one on feet with the external fixator. The main difference is probably just the difficulties associated with it. I started a blog as well: achybrachyheart.wordpress.com. Blogspot wouldn't allow me to post under my wordpress id :(

  3. Hey how you doing? I wanted to know if you have any advice for me. Its been a month since my surgery My stitches have not been removed. I had distract 7mm the doc unscrew it and brought it down to 3mm. A lot of fluid have been coming out of it. the fluid and blood are dry on top of the stitches it looks pretty gross. my toe looks purple and dead. I can't go back to work or even get up because the fluid comes out of it. I cry every single day. crying as I'm writting to you, Im just very depress right now and dont know what to do. my foot was cut 10 cm. its from my foot to my toe. I seriously regret going through this. Did you experience alot of yellow fluid with yours? The last 3 toes are not stuck together because the fluid have dried on them.

    1. Hi Bella!
I am doing well thank you!

Did you have the external fixator or one stage lengthening?
My toes were not stuck together, and i didn't have much discharge. I pretty much spent my entire 4-5 months in bed, laying down with my foot elevated. My toe was a little purple, but I still had feeling in it. Do you still have feeling if you touch it?

10 cm seems like a large cut, mine is about 3-4cm... but I think we had different procedures.

Where are you from? Where did you have the surgery?

I am sorry, I do not have much advice, however, I suggest maybe seeing a different doctor?

:( I hope everything works out for you

  5. Thanks for responding. Ok I live in florida and went I went to see the doctor yesterday. I almost lost my toe. the entire skin and nail was removed. it looks horrible I cry everyday. now that my toe is exposed like that its easy for bacteria to get in. So he has me on antibiotics. He also said he might have to have another surgery and made a fresh cut because the bone is not filling in. I had the external fixator its still on my foot and yes my scar is huge. I ask why I cant use a bone stimulator he said they cost 4,000. he doesnt seem like he wants to help at all. I definitely cannot afford another surgery. so Im look for other doctors around the area that can help.
